Fun Candy Cane Facts

The origin of the red stripes

Candy canes are common during the Christmas holiday.

Although, it is possible to find different colors and different flavors the white ones with red stripes are the most common.

Actually, most people love the ones with red stripes for different reasons.

So, why and when did the stripes started showing up?

Even though no one is sure why and when the red stripes started showing up, we believe it started in the 19th century.

Before that time, all the candy canes were white.

A man in Albany, Georgia was making candies for his family and he started adding stripes to the sweets.

And since we mainly used them for decoration, people believe it as a great idea.

Since then, many people add different colors and flavors to the candies.
