This is a quick digital sketch of the funny cartoon character SpongeBob SquarePants.
I completed this drawing with my Wacom Intuos CTL490DW (the old version) graphics tablet.
I used Clip Studio Paint Pro as the drawing software.
I found that with Clip Studio it’s much easier to draw a quick sketch than other drawing software.
In order to draw SpongeBob I grabbed his picture and placed it right next to the drawing layer.
Since I have to look at my screen versus looking down, it’s much easier to sketch the design.
Sketches are great for sharpening your drawing skills and coming up with new ideas.
Drawing tablets are great for quick sketches and preparing designs for a more professional touch.
After completed the initial outline, I started adding small details like the eyes, curves, and shoes.
This is the first layer of my drawing, then I added a second layer to add more definition and color.
The last part of my drawing was to control my strokes to make steady lines (not easy).
So I managed to do some decent lines and then I started sketching in color following the dark lines.
At the end of the SpongeBob sketch I hid the first layer of sketch to eliminate unwanted lines.
I had lots of fun drawing SpongeBob and I hope you enjoyed it as well.
Which designs are you working on right now?
